This is a four unit course. It is not limited to women, nor to scientists; it is designed to survey a sampling of influential women in science and discuss their pioneering studies from the 17th-20th centuries. This is a great class for expanding your appreciation of the progression of scientific discovery. A final project is due the last week of class.

This is a four unit course designed to help teachers develop, implement, and evaluate creative writing instruction through the exploration of creative writing activities. Upon completion of this course, each student will have a portfolio of website links and lessons to use in the classroom. A final project is due the last week of class.

This is a four unit course. The importance of proper nutrition and a healthy lifestyle will be reviewed as we examine various elements of popular diets. Students will access online resources to construct a lesson plan relating to this topic. A final project is due the last week of class.

Online Dinosaur Research for Educators
This is a four unit course designed to explore concepts related to dinosaurs and the eras in which they existed. This course is not limited to science teachers and culminates in a final, usable lesson plan project created by you, complete with internet resources for enhanced teaching. A final project is due the last week of class.

Internet Biology for Educators
This is a four unit course designed to review and explore biological concepts
and provide access to internet biology resources to assist in course planning
and enhance instruction. This course serves science teachers who would
like a review of basic concepts or who wish to incorporate internet resources
into their instruction. You will complete a lesson plan ready for
incorporation into your classroom. A final project is due the last week of
class.

Online Language Arts Resources for Educators
This is a four unit course designed to help educators obtain information and skills to integrate Internet language arts resources in their language arts study programs. Upon completion of this course, each student will have a portfolio of language arts website links and lessons to use in the classroom. A final project is due the last week of class.

Social Perspectives on Pregnancy and Childbirth
This is a four unit course that explores the interrelated biology and sociology of contemporary pregnancy and childbirth. Students will use online resources to examine the developing social and biological views surrounding pregnancy and childbirth in the 21st century. Upon completion of this course, each student will have a portfolio of website links and lessons to use in the classroom. A final project is due the last week of class.

Current Topics in Science for Educators
This is a four unit course. This course is not limited to science teachers, but you will be expected to research topics in scientific journals so a certain amount of scientific knowledge and interest is necessary. In this class you will review scientific literature for a research project and incorporate that information into a lesson plan ready for use in the classroom. This is a great way to learn about new methods and research going on in today’s laboratories while earning credit! A final project is due the last week of class.

This is a four unit course designed to prepare teachers to develop and implement classroom assignments to enhance reading understanding and enjoyment while teaching instructors to identify historical relationships utilizing literature. A final project is due the last week of class.

This is a four unit course designed to allow you to have the opportunity to
review and examine common genetic disorders,
review scientific literature, and incorporate your findings into a lesson plan
for immediate use in your classroom. We will discuss modes of
inheritance, symptoms, and proposed treatments. A final project is due
the last week of class.

This is a four unit course that surveys the effects of aging on specific body systems as they relate to homeostasis. Cellular changes as well as social views that effect longevity and quality of life will be examined.
